About Us

Established in 1956 as a Manufacturers Representative company, Charles Lucas Sales Co. was founded by Charles Lucas, father of Steve and Sam Lucas and grandfather of Blair Lucas. Providing rep services to McIntosh the company thrived in the high-end audio market for decades.

In the seventies Steve and Sam Lucas came on board to help their father grow the business in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas, eventually taking over the company. They added Marantz, Stewart Filmscreen, and Boston Acoustics to the line card among others. The rep business grew and they catered to all the major independent retailers of the time.

Around 2003 Epson approached Lucas Sales about representing their new projector line in the home entertainment market and along with it they were requested to provide rep-distribution services for the brand. In 2004 they needed to grow inorder to service the growing category that is home theater and brought on Cliff Clarke to help modernize the company and provide additional boots on the ground with the dealers in the territory. LM Electronics, the rep-distribution company as we know it today, was born.

Over the next few years the dealer-base began a fundamental shift towards Custom Installation and the major retailers began to shrink in overall number either due to acquisitions, or failing to embrace the custom installation market. As a result an explosion of smaller independant dealers occured and drove the need for a better rep-distribution company to help them grow. On the back of Epson’s success and by expanding the line card offered by LM Electronics we have helped these smaller dealers grow into major Custom Installation powerhouses throughout the territory.

During this time Lucas Sales added Blair Lucas and Brian Kirkpatrick to the team.

Around 2017 Cliff left the company to work for a Custom Installation company in Austin, at which point Kevin McCormack joined the team.

At the end of 2018 Sam decided it was time to retire and Cliff was brought back at the start of 2019 at the Managing Partner to work with Steve and the team to diversify, modernize, and grow the company once again. One of the first moves was to add installation experience to the team with Jeremy Hudson, a 20-year high-end integrator with a deep lighting background.

From 2019 to today, May of 2022, LM Electronics has been growing by leaps and bounds helping dealers grow from small independent contractors buying primarily from distribution into companies with multiple employees and direct relationships with our vendors. We have added David Santos and most recently, David Lafferman to our team to help provide the best-in-class service we have been delivering since Chales Lucas’ time in the 50s.

Over the next few months and years, we will continue to diversify into automation, shades, and lighting to help our dealers capture these projects and execute them profitably.
